EU Council prolongs sanctions against Russia till Feb 24, 2024
MOSCOW, Feb 21 (PRIME) -- The European Council has prolonged sanctions against Russia over the situation in Ukraine for another year, until February 24, 2024, as seen by PRIME in a document released in the E.U. Official Journal on Tuesday.
“On the basis of a review of Decision (CFSP) 2022/266, and in view of the Russian Federation’s continuing illegal actions against Ukraine, the restrictive measures should be renewed until 24 February 2024,” the document read.
The E.U. has imposed nine packages of sanctions against Russia since February 2022, including financial, trading, and individual sanctions. At present, the restrictions apply to 1,386 individuals and 171 legal entities.
